Closing in on 4pm. Slowly getting used to time between sunrise and sunset noticeably shrinking again. Watching in awe the few mechanical aspects of todays machines working. There's always some comfort in blinking of lights and the random sounds of fans. Not that either of these is really needed here but it makes activity a bit more palpable, a bit less spooky.
Einen halben Tag weiter und immer noch unbefriedigt ungeordnet. Die Verkäuferin in der Bäckerei lässt wissen, dass der Kuchenverkauf ab der nächsten Woche spärlicher wird, weil Jahresende Reformationsbrötchen und Stollen bringt, all das fühlt sich viel zu früh an und der Druck auf die eigenen schlechten Gewohnheiten steigt. In der Einfahrt wird schwere Technik aus einem Transporter auf den kleinen Wagen geladen, und diesmal sind vertraute Kollegen dabei, ist der Adressat bekannt, macht sich eine gewisse Erwartungshaltung breit. (Auch: Die Gefahr von Terminen, die zu ungewohnten Zeiten beginnen. Plötzlich muss der Schritt schneller werden, um nicht zu spät und nicht außer Atem einzuwählen. Wind in den Lamellen. Einige warme Sonnenstrahlen auf Tisch und Haut. Und viel zu viel Kaffee.)
9am and on. Of locks and timeouts. Leaving desk, hoping things will conclude once attention moves elsewhere. Which they usually don't. But it's about trying and hoping, every other time. (Also: The peculiar mood of a morning filled with tasks not calls. Unexpected. Unused to.)
(Too: The moment of sending out an email to briefly get in touch with a former business partner again - and learning from the autoresponder that the person has retired months ago. Stories of passing time and communication interrupts.)
4pm and on. Drifting with the flood of thoughts, draining in the sinks of exhaustion. Sun moved forth behind the buildings hours ago, now everything's spanned by a silver-blue sky resembling the colour of the roofs reflecting late light. Leaving a sidenote on this afternoons journal, before closing it. And the scribble of a tree and a cloud. Before dialing in, once again.
